I took pictures of everything can someone please help me figure out all the numbers and letters so i know more about this tractor and what the year is? I was told it was a combine too and it seems to have the mounts for one

This is where serial number is if it still has tag.

You probably have to find what year it is by the date codes, casted into the castings, like 6-10-M, means June 10th 1941

IH used letters for year coding cast parts...the month and day cast were numbers then year a letter...FastFarmall must of hit a wrong button someplace....here is the list

49098 may be all the serial numbers. That would be built the last month of 41. J code cast parts would be cast in 1940. If several or most are J code that makes it doubtful on serial number and castings matching. even if cast in the last month of 1940 that serial number puts them around a year apart. If original the engine may have the same serial number as the chassis around that time period. Should have several K codes with that serial number and very few if any J codes.

The engine says FBK- 23659 rightabove the distributer its pretty warn down but right underneath that number it almost looks like there id a /1. Does it matter if all the cast dates are different but they all have J? Also is it possible that it was bought in 1940 as a 1941? By the way thank you everyone for your help i really appreciate it.

FBK 23659 is the engine serial (likely a x1(most common) under). The casting dates will vary some(usually with in about a month or two, since some parts needed more time for curing and machining. If the month is Dec (or really late Nov) it would have been cast in 40(J cast code) and assembled and marked a 41. There may be a mix of cast codes(say J's on larger parts and K on smaller) if made with in the first months of 1941.

23659 was used in a November built 40 model tractor and the chassis number was probably the same or very little difference when built. J codes would fit. If the other number posted is on the clutch housing some parts may not be original.

Looked at some wrote down. Lot of the early ones no longer have the original engine block. Closest original I noticed with a quick look is serial 21676 on both engine and chassis. Casting dates are when the casting was made not the date tractor was built. Castings can very from several months to close to tractor build but if after serial number date you can figure one was replaced sometime. Tractor could be a 40 model purchased in 41.

My M rolled out the factory the last week of December 1941. FBK50727
The final drive, torque tube, and engine were all cast in November 1941
