fluid replacement for 460

The last I bought at the dealer was called Hy-Tran Ultraction. Part number 73341724 I believe. Around $80 per 5 gallon pail.

JD Hyguard is equal. Farm store fluid that says on the label that it meets those standards are OKish. Not 303 numbered fluid. Do
not listen to the 18 year old sales person. Read it on the label. Jim

NAPA premium HYdraulic is a more economical substitute. Better than TSC hydraulic oil s seems to have better tolerance for moisture than most IMHO last I bought was about $46 for a 5gal pail

that's the reason why i try not to shop at TSC: young kids that don't know nothing

Go to the dealer and ask for "Hy-Tran" and they will sell you as much of it as you want. The label will say "Hy-Tran Ultraction." All this means is that it is an improved product over the original.

Alternately, you can use the compatible fluids. There is nothing on a 460 that requires any "proprietary" additives that may be in the "genuine" brand name fluid.

The specification you are looking for on the label is "MS 1209".

(quoted from post at 14:48:52 12/31/17) is there a modern replacement for Hy-trans that i can use in my 460?

A quick glance at the label must indicate it's for both hydraulic and TRANSMISSIONS - not just hydraulic. This will eliminate reading the fine print on the back.
