Cub Radiator

I have a 1964 Cub tractor, which I recently installed a new radiator. The old radiator, I believe was non-pressurized because of the cap style. The new radiator came with a pressurized cap, is this right? Also, while pushing snow recently, I lost anti-freeze out the drain hose and I do not understand why. Any thoughts??

PS - Thanks to all of you who helped me with governor problems on my Super ?C?

Using a pressure cap or not is fine. I assume you mean some anti-freeze came out the overflow tube. Most likely is was over-full.

Jim Becker is correct. We fill radiators to the very top today in cars and trucks because they have an external reservoir that allows expansion and contraction to keep it to the very top. older vehicles and tractors used the top tank for a reservoir. It needs to be only an inch above the cores to work. leaving space above for expansion. Jim

I have a Farmall A that has a non pressure radiator. It has a belly mower that I use to cut the lawn. I always had trouble with antifreeze draining out the overflow when I went down steep hills. I added a makeshift coolant recovery bottle on the side of the engine and don't have the problem any more.
