100 Axle Seal Replacement

Merry Christmas everyone. Okay, I've removed the nut from the axle on the inside of the wheel housing but when I try to pull the axle it won't move. Even using a hammer on the axle hub it won't budge. I haven't removed the housing oil pan yet but I was going to see if the axle would move before I did that task. So, what am I missing? Do I need to use more force?

You need to pull the bearing and seal retainer on the other side of the drop box.. This retainer keeps the axle assembly in place.

"other side of the drop box" What/where is the drop box? From this side of the wheel housing I can see a set of bearings. Are you saying there's a retainer on the other side of these bearings? I don't have an exploded view to refer to.

"stub axel" Are you saying the axel is in two pieces? I thought it was one axel that went all the way through the wheel housing. Yes? No? I really need and exploded view because I'm confused.

folks use different words for parts. drop box is final drive is the portion that you are working on. farmall does not call this a stub axle, but some do. if you get the axle out, the pan will have to come off , before you can replace. friend of mine calls this portion drop axle and so do i. good luck

OK drop box is wheel housing. The retainer is item 29 in the final drive shown in the link provided by alinmo. It is on the wheel side of your wheel housing; to the right in the photo you showed. The retainer is approximately 3 inch square

I swear, this is a lot of trouble just to keep a little oil off the floor. Someone mentioned that the bearings had to be pressed on but I don't see it. Where in this assembly would bearing be pressed on?
