Re: Super C - Governor Issues II

Have another question on my Super C governor. On the Case/IH schematic, I see there is a spring, axle pin & bumper stop on the at the end of the cam/dist. gear. Apparently, these parts are internal to the end of the shaft gear. The only part visible is the spring, which I can see through a small hole on the shaft. What purpose do these parts serve?? I have ordered a spring and a retainer/seal, and need to look into boring out the throttle leaver hole and install a brass bushing. The thrust bearing and all other parts seem to be in good shape. Thanks to all of you who responded to my earlier post.

There is a spring and a "plunger" that go in the end of the governor part that is in the engine block. It pushes against the front of the governor - and probably holds the back part in place (that is, it won't "walk" toward the front when changing engine speeds). When you put the governor back on the engine, you might put a drop or two of oil on the thrust bearing - to "pre-lube" it.
