I bought a PTO shield for my 1944 and it won't bolt up. Is this shield for an earlier or later version?

Are you sure it's not bent or 'sprung'? After all it's over 70 years old.As far as I know, the older flat pto(small shaft) and the newer/later(large shaft) have the same bolt 'pattern'.

It should fit any H from 1941 (at some serial break) to the last SH ever built. The upper bolt appears to align, where are the other bolts hitting the brackets? Jim

You are probably correct. I think the distance to the end of the shield would be different though. I wish we could see the other holes. Jim

You have the wrong shield you need the longer shield
The shield in your pics are for a early h with the smaller pto

I believe that's for the earlier ones, had a 41 H that had that one, I believe yours should be the longer & wider one,, not flared like the one you have there .

With the top bolt aligned the side bolt holes are about an 1 1/4? lower. It could be sprung but to align any of the holes would make it way out of shape.

I think you have a shield for an "M". The "H" shield is longer because the rear end of the H is slightly shorter (smaller) and a longer shield is needed to cover the pto shaft. That difference might also affect the hole locations in the shield.

Seems I read about that, but I have never checked it out on a real H or M.
