Is it possible to get these dents out and smooth without bondo?

I have a grill from a 350 and one from a Farmall C that I need to straighten also. I just ordered the grill reforming tools from Sunsdahls. They are out of Faribault MN.

That is all repairable. I have started with worse than that and I didn't have any of the grill forming tools you can buy now. I used a auto body pick hammer and dollies. It takes a little time but it can be done. You will need to use a little bondo fill up the small stuff and to generally smooth things out. The rule of thumb on bondo is that it should never be more than an 1/8" thick. I would also recommend you get a good auto body hammer like a Martin brand. They are quality hammers. I did finally break down and ordered a set of the repair dies, they work really well.

Take your time and do a little at a time. This will not be a job for the impatient. I find it relaxing to do a little body work on a tractor grill. Think of Zen and the Art of Tractor Grill Repair...

Oh yea, definitely repairable. Just be patient, if you pound a dent too far you can always pound it back. I have done many, none using the special tools though. I can't justify spending the $50 or $75 for them when I have done without them so far.

I can attest to the fact that those grill straightening dies work great. I just used on on my Super A and it came out wonderful in just a short time of working on it. I used to try to straighten them with a hammer and sheetmetal vise grip and they never came out as good as using those dies plus I spent many hours with poorer results. They even work on John Deere's as I used one on a B John Deere and the grill looks like a new one.
