My 100 I rebuilt several years ago never has idled as low as it need to nor would go as high as it needed to go when under a full load. I've dealt with it as just a bother but now I want to fix it. My brother says the governor is probably worn out and I need to find a replacement. But, before I go that route, how can RPM's be adjusted both lower and higher on this tractor? I notice there's a small bolt with a lock nut on the top of the governor and it seems I remember my grandfather fiddling with it way back when. There's also an idle screw on the carb. Any suggestions?

Not sure about a 100,But my superM idled too fast. After adjusting the idle speed screw(took it completely out),after adjusting the throttle linkage, after adjusting the inside of the governor itself,it still idled too fast. Finally went into the turnbuckle/bellcrank thet runs the carb. Shortened the link there. now it will idle so slow I can almost 'count the pops on one hand' LOL.

The screw on the top is for hi-rpms but is the linkage from the carb to the gov set correct as that can affect the speeds of the engine. Idle screw on the carb has nothing to do with rpms but there is a screw on carb shaft that does control idle rpms. The input shaft on the gov need to be in good shape and not have any "wobble". It can be rebushed thus making good throttle response again.
