L side break pedal break latch frozen

I have to pull the L side break pedal back with my heel. I have to move the break latch with pliers. Any cure. I have no tractor shed, so it sets outside.

On what modal tractor?? Could be as simple as a weak spring or the good old rusted up problem. If from rust a pumper oil can filled with ATF goes along ways in freeing things up

I've had similar problems on smaller Farmalls and mine sit out side too. So far on mine they have arrived that way. Currently have a problem on my 100. I can move it with tools so like the guys said - oil and work it back and forth. I've never tried heating one - maybe that would help also.

pull the problem apart and clean up good with emery or whatever. the when putting together give it a coating of grease. blind as to what model your talking about. just bathing it in oil is only temporary, need to get the rust out.

Some parts washing solvent if it is rusted up will help get the rust to soak loose as you work it the fastest. Then some oil after it is loose. Now if it is not the rust then you have more detailed problems that will probably require taking the brake apart and cleaning things up to move appropriately.

Sorry guys, its on a 40 B. Its in underneath the tube where the shaft from the L pedal goes into a formed hollow tube and comes out the L side.
That don't have anything to do with the latch that is on the L pedal. I have tried heating it and spreading both sides of the latch, and it worked for awhile.

That shaft will move back and forth some. I would remove the pin going to the brake rod then mite need to remove the pedal guard so you can squirt lube . You can then get the pedal working. Now since the brake rod is loose can you move it any as that could be the problem

(quoted from post at 12:35:02 12/15/17) Never saw a tractor sight that would not let me say Pinetrating oil before. Yes, I had to misspell it to get it through.

Don't know what's going on with you, penetrating, penetration goes through for me

Hi Gene. Yes, I can depress the brake fine, just have to drag it back with the heel of my shoe. I put another spring on the L side, but it didn"t help.

Heat it with a propane torch and apply red chassis grease to melt into the joint. It will also help repel water/rust/ Jim
