D282 Glow Plugs

I'm replacing glow plugs on a 656 with a D282. Replaced some a year ago that came from CaseIH and they've already burnt up. The old plugs are still good. Gonna replace all 6 this time. What are the best Glow Plugs to use?

Use 7.3 Powerstroke glow plugs. They have metric thread, but run a 3/8 fine thread die over them, and screw them in. Have to put female bullet connectors on your wires instead of the spade ends. Start much faster, like 15 seconds instead of a minute of heating, and are like 10 bucks each instead of 30.

Ross, what is the amp draw on the ford plugs.

The plugs Ross mentioned are what I have in my 560, Autolite 1111. It starts much faster cold now. Make sure the 3/8 inch die is SHARP or the plugs won't thread in far enough to seal correctly. Wire ends need changed, but the amp draw looks about the same on my meter anyway.

That is interesting, more faster heat usually means more amps.

Mine is about half the recommended time that IH has in the manual using the RX plugs.

Diesel RX are self regulationg so the amps drop as they run but they do not like 14 volts from the alternator, must get off the button soon as it fires!

They have an 11 volt rating.

(quoted from post at 18:02:56 12/12/17) I can't remember offhand, but it seems like
60 amps???

I think I am about 60 and it tapers back from there.

I looked up the autolite and it is rated at 11 volts also.
