Tractor sat for 5 years, recently got running and ran great. It's has great oil pressure, but started hearing a bad noise, sounds like a low growl is best I can explain it. Bad enough where it stalled engine . It freed back up and was able to get back to shed. Took the 2 inspection ports out, everything getting oil , and rods looked good. I'm fearing rear main bearing? Any help appreciated . It's a 1937 thanks

To me, low growl sounds more like front gear train than main bearing. Other opinions? Got something, even a big screwdriver to listen at the handle while setting the blade various places on the engine, to use to help identify the location of the noise?

MY 10 20 had sat for more than 30 years, but the engine was loose, When I got it took engine covers off and with an oil can started oiling front and rear bearings and rod bearings. and rolling engine. For about a month before I removed the oil pan,

To check it, see if the growl goes away when you clutch it.
If not, those ball main bearings will sure growl, I have a W-30 doing the same thing.
We had a 10-20 years ago that you could see the front crank pulley go up and down by
pulling out on the fan belt. It didn't growl.

What concerns me is that it gets louder as it runs, in neutral is well, and feels like it's seizing up and bogs engine down.
