WD9 transmission problem

Working on a WD9, have a new 1st/rev shift fork and poppets. The new shift poppets are .025 larger in diameter than the old ones. Is there an update or service bulletin that would explain this? Thanks, Brian

So are they .025 bigger than .500. If they fit in the holes freely without springs and not to big for notches they should work. What number is the poppets or are they generic? Machine serial number?

Part number 67746D, tractor number WDCB67040 W12B. Parts are new old stock from Parts Depot. They will not fit into the holes, the length is the same.
Thanks,
Brian

Not sure if I can help. That tractor should use 67746D or DA. Could someone have changed the steering gear along with shifter housing at some point to a early one? Can't find the size of 67746DA.

I thought about that. The original poppets are .500 as are the balls in the early housing. It looks like the later housing with the poppets is a different part number than the ones with the .500 balls. The new poppets are made the same as the originals with a flat and so forth. We ended up here because of the transmission sticking in 1st gear. The rail was worn just enough that the poppet was resting too low in the rail. With the new rail in place the shifting in and out of first and reverse is much better. The increased size of the new poppets got me to thinking about the reason. This lead me to think that there may be some type up update for this problem. If the poppet bores were increased to 17/32 (.531) this would allow the new poppets to fit with the same clearance as the old ones have. This would make the poppets set just a little higher in the rail, making the transmission easier to shift.
