My father in-law has a
43 H we were wondering
Did they come on steel
or could you get them
on rubber with the war
effort??

The original owner of my 43 H got it with rubber but I understand it took some time. Rubber was tight due to the war effort and military had first priority.

I would agree, although I know the uncle's was a '43, I'm not sure when they took delivery. I do know that the semi-mount mower, they got with it, came with a steel wheel.

You could get them either way. Steel or rubber. However, I think rubber was being rationed at the time, and you would of had to have enough rubber ration stamps to order one with rubber. Transmissions were the same, but road gear was blocked out on tractors equipped with steel. I have a 43 on rubber. Not sure if the rubber is original to the tractor, or if it was converted to factory rubber wheels after the war. Most steel wheel versions were converted. Alot of them by cutting off the outer steel and welding on rims. I have a full set of original steel on a 42. Not original to the tractor, but are original to an H. Pretty rare to see today. Have never seen another set in person. Only in pictures and online. And I have seen a lot of H's in my day.

Ooops, maybe I misunderstood! Are you saying you have the wheels and plows, but need a tractor to put them on?
If so, ignore my prior post!
