plug and coil wires 656

I left my 656 in a pasture with some yearling heifers. Should have known better, they chewed the plug and coil wires off. It has been several years since I replaced the wires and my memory is bad. First, if I just go to NAPA is there a specific type of wire? Second, what is the proper sequence at the coil starting at the front plug? TIA

Get the attention of the old guy behind the counter, he may still know where the "Ag and Industrial" electrical parts catalog is hiding on a dusty back shelf and be able to actually look up the application.

Firing order is 1-5-3-6-2-4, the same as almost every other 6-cylinder in-line engine.

Hopefully, there's at least 1 original wire left in place as a starting point, or you'll have to find #1 TDC to determine where
#1 goes in the cap.

There would be a standard way they were arranged in the cap at the factory, but it's best to check, cause someone may have had the distributor out and replaced it in a non-standard position.

GOOD LUCK!

Bob has the order under control. Find #1 by pulling out the spark plugs (easier to turn it) and putting a cotton ball loosely into the #1 hole. Turn the engine with the fan (or by rolling it forward in High gear with the TA forward) till the cotton puffs out. Look under the cap where the rotor is going to point next. (it probably isn't there yet) and start numbering there. Don't crank it with the starter to do this, or pull it, as turning it fast could suck in the cotton ball. (no real damage would occur if you did, but why need to go get one. Jim

Once you find the No1 position on the distributor, the rotor turns counter-clockwise when installing the remainder of the wires.
