H farmall hydraulic leak

I have an h farmall that I use. It has 3 point hitch it uses the belly pump. I have to keep a bucket under the tractor to catch the fluid and when I use the lift you can follow the tractor cuz it leaves a trail of fluid.
It is something simple is this common?

Thanks for the advice and information

There is a seal on the pump located where the coupler shaft from the transmission counter shaft attaches. This short shaft is under the thin metal plate behind the belly pump. The Belly pump will need to be removed to properly get the pump drive off of the pump.
Be careful it is heavy and tippy.
The outlet elbows and the control lever, as well as the cap need to be removed.
Once off, the drive (with the 1/2" slot) turns CCW to remove. To hold the gears from turning, a flat aluminum or brass bar needs to be pushed into the outlet of the pump gears. Once off the seal can be removed. Jim

Have you checked the hoses to see if they leak. I had to replace both on my 300U this year that went to the cylinder for the 2 point hitch. They just developed a crack and started leaking.

As for it being common... The newest version of that tractor is 64 years old, the oldest is 78 years old. There is going to be some wear and tear. There are going to be leaks and drips, clanks and creaks... Yeah, it's normal.

It's not rocket surgery to remove the belly pump and install new seals. Even easier if you do some troubleshooting to find out where the oil is coming from so you know where exactly to concentrate your efforts.
