Farmall super m Farmall 300 steering

Was just curious if the front end bolt pattern on the Farmall super m was the same as on the 300. Trying to see if my 300 wife front will fit onto my super m. It's not a regular 300 wide front I don't believe because there is no saddle that bolts onto the frame rales. Just the 3 front bolts and the steering connection. Thanks
 
No will not fit. A 300 is basicly an H. Few parts will interchange between H(300) and M.If you have both tractors close,drag out your tape measure and find out.
 
See that's the thing, I did measure the 4 bolts and they seemed to line up. I think it was 11" side to side and 4 or 4 1/2" from front to back. Also the wide front has Chanel going from bolt to bolt on the wide front end frame. Usually it's a solid hole and then another whole 11" over. But on the wide front it has Chanel that the holes are drilled to so technically I could drill new wholes if needed, just not sure if the steering would hook up. The second image is a Farmall super m frame that has the wholes so they can't be modified. But the first picture is of the wide front on the 300 and how it's a solid channel the holes are drilled into

An M frame is wider, so some mods will be needed for the stabilizer. The three hole drag link 'pitman' the M hole dimensions are approximately 1/2" further apart in both directions.the bolster/front on an M measures 4 1/2x5" and uses 3/4" bolts. An H/300 measures 4x 4 1/2 and uses 5/8" bolts". Plus the M uses 3/4" bolts. whereas H/300 use 5/8" bolts.You can redrill the three holes. Just put a 'plug' in the holes(tack weld in place),remark the holes and redrill.You can also drill the frame rails for the stabilizer.Yes,the front will 'fit',but not a direct bolt-up.It can be made to work.A few holes will have to be redrilled.Are you confused?
 
Piece that bolts to bolster in the top picture with four 3/4 inch bolt holes is the same on that type front if used on a 400, M, 300 or several IH tractors with that type wide front. Only thing keeping the top picture complete with wheel hubs from being a direct bolt onto a M from a 300 is the width of rear support and the bolt pattern on the steering arm that bolts to vertical steering shaft and drilling holes in frame rails on the M tractor. Hubs and spindles have different bearings from what a 400 would, but would be the same size a M used with some early or original type IH wide fronts. Can't tell much about the second picture, Have you looked at pictures of IH wide fronts with tie rods in front of axle? Wondering if you have one with some parts missing. 300 type frame brackets and steering arm are harder to find than SMTA, 400, 450 type. Someone may be willing to trade. Steering arm for wide bolt pattern was used on several IH tractors.
 
So you're saying the steering shaft on the front end will not fit without redrilling holes? And the 4 main bolts that bolt onto the front are 1/2 inch farther apart on each side? Because the second picture shows how there's room to drill the 4 main bolts because it's a price of steel all the way across. Also the wide front end I have does not need to be mounted to the frame rails on the super m because the stabilizer does not have the cradle that bolts to the rails. The stabilizer is extended off of the front mount. So all that needs to line up is the 4 bolt holes and the steering arm. The picture is of my wide front end showing there is no cradle that bolts to the frame for the stabilizer.

Now that I see picture in most recent post. The 4 holes in front casting on bottom for a M and 300 is the same placement and size so that part will bolt on. May be a Swartz front you have.
 
So I guess the last question is will the steering mount on that wide front end mount up to the super m or will that screw me over without having to modify it. And if I had to modify it would it be an easy mod or pain in the butt?
 
You have a Swarts,or a Norden front. The mild steel is easier to work with than the cast factory front..The steering drag link/pitman will need to be redrilled.The angle iron 'mounts can be easily drilled if necessary.I would have no trouble/problem modifying the front to fit . "Your mileage may vary".
