Generator Charging Issues - Need Help

I think I got the wiring straightened out on the IH 424 gas tractor FINALLY! All I have left to do is replace the light switch (old terminals are corroded and not allowing current to pass), and get the 12 volt generator to charge.

I have ran the troubleshooting guide that you guys frequently share and here are my results. I have verified the wiring is correct, so I am at a loss here. I can double check my wiring but looks like everything checks out. I did not check the ground at the generator, but with the last test allowing the light to go off, you would think it wouldn't be the ground. What do you guys think??

Two things seem important. One is the charge light, it needs a circuit and connections not in an AMP gauge equipped system. The second is polarizing the generator. From the diagram source it appears the gen is negative ground. Be sure of this, the polarization process puts battery voltage on the armature terminal for one second. The illustration shows a 5 terminal VR. Jim.

John T,
I read through your troubleshooter that you posted and it seems like it is basically the same as the procedure I used. Can you not see the 2 pictures I posted in the previous posts? They are pictures of the procedure I used. Please have a look and tell me what you think.

Hard to see exactly where you left off but with it running if you dead ground the gennys FLD post does it charge then?????????? If so but NOT otherwise, the VR isn't well grounded (try to jump wire VR case to a good ground) orrrrrrrrrrrrr the VR is bad orrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr the wires open from FLD on VR to FLD post on genny. With the genny having a good ground and you dead ground the VR FLD post if it still don't charge its usually a genny problem but if it charges then see the above

Sorry I'm in a hurry now I'm in the RV at a Walmart and slow internet I may try back later

I followed the troubleshooting procedure as shown in the picture above, which does test the regulator. I did not test the regulator alone by itself. Is there a way I could do that?
