Farmall M Serial Number

I looked at a mid 40's M recently and it had a XX1 after the six digit serial number. I'm familiar with the X1 but what does the other X mean?

(quoted from post at 05:40:24 12/05/17) Don't know of a XX1 suffix for a Farmall M. Maybe a mess up.
D Slater. If X1=Gasoline and X=high-speed low and reverse could XX1 be a tractor with both? I certainly don't know but value your opinion. Thanks - Peter

Thanks for the reply. Was there also a high speed fourth gear option for the M? The M had a fairly fast reverse anyways, how fast was the "fast" reverse?

X for high speed low and reverse started with the 460, 560 and used in some others. M never had a high speed low and reverse option in a farm tractor. Reason for mentioning don't know of a M code like that is because it could be something not known to me. But no common code listed for a M has XX right after the serial number. We learn by sharing opinions so if someone comes up with a answer something will be learned.
