Got the Generator back from the repair shop today. Technician thinks one of the pass-through terminal bolts may have been shorting out to the case. Went through the genny completely and checked the voltage regulator also.

Will put both back on soon and let you know if it is fixed

Installed the Generator, and re-polarized it. Charges at start up, and gauge registers on the + side.

Technician said he thought the new voltage regulator had one coil pretty burnt. I did notice that the gauge registered +, then after a while, dropped to the middle mark. Didn't see it charging again, although I didn't run it very long.

May have to replace the rubber strips on the old voltage regulator and put it on to see if new vr got burned through the process
