Previous owner says he swapped out the original motor and replaced it with a yellow colored farmall motor and he rebuilt the
injector pump , and and also cleaned the injectors . So when starting cold it has ALOT of smoke untill it gets warmed up.then
its not bad. I don't know where to start with this tractor...never really worked on diesels and can't find a gas motor to
replace it . could the pump not be built properly rebuilt? Whats the possibilities

If it's the original size 236 engine, and it's worn tired, what you have is normal. Mine was the same way, fine the hotter it ran. Started lousy cold with lots of blue-white smoke. You might try playing around with the timing and see if it helps any, but don't get your hopes up. That engine has a load advance style pump that's best set on a test stand, but could be checked and set with the tractor on a PTO dyno. What helped mine was an overhaul, and all new valve seats..

First thing is to get a manual, the glow plugs MUST be used & the procedure needs to be followed.

And be sure all 6 glow plugs are working.

If they are found to be not working where can I get a set of glow plugs and what is the voltage are they , as I once had a
very rusted old Chevy { Japanese } Isuzu 4 cyl pickup and couldn't find a set of glow plugs for it without going to the dealer
and so I just happen to have access to a brand new Jeep motor with a straight 6 diesel and so finding out that the Jeep glow
plugs were the same voltage , which was I think less than 1 volt and the thread and reach of the Jeep plug was perfect match
and so I put them in the Isuzu and fired right up and ran it for years till I sold it ...So I am wondering does anyone know the
voltage and what is the thread and reach of the original glow plugs for the farmall 460 diesel.?

Never saw a 460/560 diesel that didn't smoke when cold....Lots of smoke when cold and first start up is normal on those 236 and 282 glow plug engines. If it clears up after a bit,and otherwise runs good, and doesn't use (much) oil,It's fine. Just run it and not worry. If the glow plugs are bad,it will be VERY hard to start,or wont start at all without either.Don't use the stuff on that motor, you could stretch headbolts, blow headgasket.....If it starts fairly well when 'glowed',runs good, doesnt use oil,all is well. The 236/282 were not IH's best engines.that award goes to the D361(806) and 310German(706/756). run it and enjoy your tractor. No worries.

Why don't you just take a glow plug out and take it with you to a good NAPA store?you would be really surprised on what a NAPA can get.........

Original plug is 3/8 inch fine thread. For shorter heat times I used the Autolite 1111 plug and ran a SHARP 3/8 die over the new plugs so they fit the injectors, 1111 powerstroke plug has metric threads. I have those in my 560, now it will start cold in 15-20 seconds instead of the minute it took with the original plugs..

The Diesel RX plugs kind of split that time frame and have the correct threads.

OEM style glow plugs are under $20 each from dozens of online vendors. You can get a whole set shipped to you off ebay for <$100.

Sometimes it just doesn't pay to scavenge and scrounge.
