is it possible to put new crank and rod bearings in without removing the engine? im planning on pulling the pan and a cap, check journal cond.

Yes,you can 'roll' in new main bearings and replace rod bearings with pulling the engine/crank. It is a common practice. You do that on an 'inframe' overhaul.

Yes it can be done , BUT if the crank is scored or out of round then your spitting into the wind . If your doing this due to low oil pressure then crank bearings are just half your problem. You will also need Cam bearings and a oil pump . If your oil pressure is good HOT then why mess with it . If your running CAR oil ya may want to use what your suppose to use .

If you're talking about a Farmall A I don't think you can get the rear main cap off without unbolting the rear seal retainer??? If you have low oil pressure check your oil pump cover for a warped cover and blown gasket first. Pretty sure that engine doesn't have any cam bearings.
