IH-464 crank and no spark

My IH-464 gas tractor will turn over but no spark. When I turn on the key it fires on the first click rather than the start position and sometimes turns over on start position. I have replaced the rectifier and the start switch without any fix. Any suggestions?

JC welcome to YT. To my thinking we will need some clarification of some of the terms you are
using. To me when you say ?no spark? that means you have in some way tested that the ignition is
not providing a spark to fire the spark plugs. It sounds to me like you mean the engine is not
starting is that correct? When you refer to first click please explain that more. I think you are
referring that to mean the normal run position of the ignition switch. I think what you may be
experiencing is the tractor firing after your let off the key after holding it in the start position and
the switch moves to the normal run position. This can be caused by one or a combination of the
following, low battery voltage, a bad starter that draws to high of amperage, problem with the
direct 12v boost circuit from the starter solenoid to the ignition coil or an ignition system that is not
in adequate condition (bad points etc.). Also please explain what you mean by a ?rectifier?? A
rectifier is an internal part of an alternator. Clarification of these items should help us get to the
bottom of your problem.
