Picked up a barn find F12 tag says it's a 1936. Question is the color is gray with original decals but I see most are red is this right?

If you can fined the serials # by month All farmall's were dark grey till Nov. 1st 1936 than changed to red. So most 1936 would be grey.

Look up the SN. See if it is early or late '36. Look at the date codes on the transmission, engine block. There wou will find a pretty close date of assembly.Remove a few easily removed parts. See what color you find hidden underneath.

Wasn't November 1st the beginning of IHC's year? I believe anything made after November 1, 1936 would be a 1937 model and be Red.

I likewise believe the change was Nov 1st 36. Most gray ones were repainted red if ever traded back into the dealership after the factory color change. Not sure when dealerships quit doing this, but they must of quit repainting to red at some point. Probly when F-12s were no longer being traded in for newer tractors. My 36 gray F-20 was a victim of dealership repaint to red. It was traded back into the dealership in 37 or 38 and has been red ever since. I even repainted it back red when I restored it.
