Farmall C153 troubles

I have a C153 that shows compression cold of 130, 125,120, and 130. Hot all read 170. Leak down shows at 90 pounds in, 1 at 60, 2 at 70, 3 at 80 and 4 at 90 pounds. I am blowing oil out the exhaust. I have a lot of smoke too. If the oil rings were bad would the compression still be up that high? Supposedly this engine has only 10 hours on it since a rebuild. I also have checked tolerances on the valve guides and they were within .003 at the worst on any valve. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

change the oil and pull the daylights out of it. Other than blowing oil, there is nothing wrong with it.If it is still blowing oil after twenty hours of hard work then consider taking it apart.

I agree with 504. Talk to us after it is broken in for more than 100 hours.. The "oil" might be wet stacking of carbon and water
from being cold. Make sure it is not running rich, or lean and the timing is correct (and advances as it should from static) and
use it. I do not recommend using an abrasive like bonami powder to force a brake in. If the rings were for the wrong bore size it
would have poor compression. Jim

That engine hasn't been 'broken in' yet. As was said, pull the crap out of it for a coupledays.Or find a dyno and work it hard. Get it to full operateing temp.Just don't overheat it. A new engine needs to work to seat the rings.Just idleing/poopin' around the yard is the worst thing you can do for a new engine.
