Hi. First time owning an international tractor. Its a 1969 624. When starting i was told to pull the kill switch plunger 34 of the way out. Start it. Wait 2 or 3 minutes and push it back in. Is this normal? Almost like some kind of "CHOKE" for lack of a better term. Any insight on this would be appreciated. Once running it works perfectly. Thanks

Hi welcome to YTD and IH ownership.
The 624 was a IH German built Diesel tractor from the IH factory in Neuss Germany. A very solid tractor.
See web site at: http://www.ihace.de/inhalt.htm.

Your 624 has a German D-206 engine that was made from 1965 thru 1997. Very reliable and long life engine but was made before the ultra low sulphur Diesel fuel days so add some Diesel fuel conditioner or a few tablespoons of 2 cycle engine oil to the tank every time you add fuel. The D-206 was used in several different models, some are 624,474,584,585,595,3032.

See 584 Start article as it applies to your 624.
