I've got a '69 model IH 856 with the 361D engine located on pasture land we have out of state. When I put the tractor in the shed on our last visit all worked fine. On this most recent trip there the tractor fired right up, after checking all fluids, but when I went to drive it out I found that I had no steering & no brakes.
The 3 pt worked fine & I was able to operate the implement on the remote valves too. My time there was short so all I had time to do was to look for oil on the ground but there was none. The only thing that stood out was there was a slight amount of oily film on the area where the brake pedals attach.
I believe that there are two hydraulic pumps on this tractor, so other than filters, what should I look for? Any help is appreciated.
