Hello everyone! I recently purchased a gasket kit for an H4 magneto on a Farmall Super C. The kit came with 6 gaskets, one of which I have no memory of removing when I tore down my magneto. I was wondering if anyone has bought a kit with this extra gasket and if anyone knows where it should go.
Thank you in advance!

A picture would sure help. If you can't post a picture, try to describe it -- dimensions, shape, now many screw holes . . .
There are 2 similar sort-of oval shaped ones with a screw holes along the flat top/bottom. They go at the ends of the condenser. One is used on the front side of the early magnetos and the other on the back side of later magnetos. If they are both in the kit, one should be a leftover.

Any chance that is what you have left over?

(quoted from post at 21:01:52 11/08/17) A picture would sure help. ....

The picture is usually too large to send ( well for me it is). What I do is resize the picture to 800X600 or so. By reducing the size of the picture you should be able to post the picture on this website because they (the website) has a size limit.

If you don't have a program to reduce the picture I have done it before for others on this site.
I'll look through my old files; I might have an exploded view of the H4 mag.. I had a hard drive go down and lost a lot of info..

I think I got the pictures to work. The second picture is the gasket in question

That looks like a felt seal. As I recall, there is one each on the input and output shafts of the 2:1 gear case in the distributor body (the part the distributor cap attaches to). Check the size and it should match up with one or the other.

I think there is also a felt seal on each end of the rotor shaft (the part with the magnet). You have to be in pretty deep to reach them, doubt that it goes there.

Hope you've got it by now but I went out to the shop and grabbed a few Mags and took some pictures.

Years ago IH recommended a few drops of motor oil but now they recommend a light weight grease.
