Cracked block?...advice please

So I decided to do a full rebuild of my B275 engine and after pulling the first 2 cylinder sleeves l have found hairline cracks at the thinnest point between cylinders 1-2, 2-3 and 3-4 (see photos). I have little experience with these engines and rebuilding in general so I'm looking for advice from those with more experience than me in this field. Maybe this is normal on the BD144 engine?

I'm thinking that once the new sleeves are in place and the head gasket is in place, these cracks will make little difference but I could be very wrong. If I am wrong (its not unusual!) are there any other options or is the block scrap?

I don't think it will be a problem. Found the same thing on my 364 and it has been ok for 3 years. I believe it is common on these engines.

I had a similar crack on my F-20 block. Half of the people said it would be ok, the others said no way. I had a little coolant in the oil after the first start up. I used some K-SEAL and the problem has gone away.

I had the same thing on an AC-B. First thought was, its junk, then gave it some thought and read other comments and decided the cracks didn't really matter. The gasket seals on the sleeve and the head will keep it from opening up. My opinion is go for it.

usually hairline cracks between cyl's can get away with. this block looks in rough shape to me. i would be pretty leary of this one.

Getting the sleeve ring to seal on the cracks, and to uniformly support the rim of the ring are critical. I think it it should be replaced. Probability of failure after spending money on it worries me, even if it is less than 20%. Jim

I had a cracked block for a Super C spray welded at a shop that grinds cranks and cleaned up at a machine shop that rebuilds motors. It works great.

Thanks for the input and advice guys, further research from others that know this particular engine (BD144) well seem to think that most engines will look like this because of the very thin walls between the chambers and that it will cause little problem as long as the head is straight and the head gasket seals as it should do.
