i was lookin at I&T service manual and operators manual..in the I&T manual break down number50,49,48 says distillate...46 says fuel adjusting plug..is that to be used instead of 50,49,48 on gas engines....in the operators manual it has two pics of carbs, mine looks to be the one on left, but mine does have the needle valve 50 for distillate...is 46 just a plug to by pass 50,49,48,47....thanks as always....dewy

I don't have my I&T manual handy, so I can't look it up, but the carburetor on a Farmall 300 would be nearly identical to a Super H or a Super M. Those I&T manuals are very nice, but sometimes it gives information that is either incorrect, or irrelevant.

Gasoline carburetors with 361525R91 on little round tag didn't use the fuel adjusting parts pointing to front of tractor. Just a plug and gasket used where the packing, packing nut and adjusting screw went on other models. Also used a different size main seat than the 361525R92 carburetor IH used after early models. IH put out a carburetor change package for dealers to use in R91 carbs for change to R92 on tractors sold before the change.

So was this before the electric fuel shut-off solenoid?

Yes, a short run of gasoline 300 and 400 carburetors were equipped with no main fuel adjusting screw. Just a plug that fit same threads as the packing nut. Must not of worked out or they had to many complaints about no adjustment, because dealers were supposed to rework carburetors over on tractors already sold. All didn't get changed, though rare to find one. Looked at a IT manual. If the same one as poster it doesn't show enough total information.

thanks yall....i cleaned out carb...top hole on main discharge jet was blocked and idle metering jet was blocked. made a gasket
..backed out that needle valve,,no.50 to 5 turns...fired it up and it runs again....then i adjusted the idle screw clockwise until it seats
then back it out one turn...then i started tractor and it was idling faster than it ever has,i didnt know it could turn that rpms...my
throttle was on idle it didnt matter full throttle or not...i backed out the screw to bring down the idle an adjusted like the operators
manual said......i have been having a trottle problem for a while,, have tryed adjusting throttle linkage...i only get high rpms from 3/4
throttle to full throttle and never like when i backed that idle screw out one turn...i would like to get a little more rpms and more range,
i get idle from close throttle to 3/4 throttle...any thoughts would be appreciated as always.........dewy

The best you can do is to assure the hand lever is moving the governor lever (back side of governor) to the full extent when the hand lever is fully rearward (last notch). The typical Farmall has at least 1/3 of the hand lever travel, from full forward toward Idle, to the point it begins to turn faster, as free play. Nothing happens in this area. Adjust your linkage and bell crank on the head so the governor lever makes full travel to its stop. Jim

If sure the throttle shaft tang is in slot of butterfly shaft. Remove horizontal throttle rod at governor lever. Then if you can pull lever to rear and get full speed on engine and push forward and get idle like it should check tractor throttle linkage. Linkage in front of fuel tank and throttle hand lever holes in rod going forward, along with short lever on front of the same rod. If it doesn't help moving the governor lever by hand the governor, throttle tube and shaft needs checked for a problem or adjustments made. Make sure no crap is packed behind governor that would block lever travel.

thanks slater i will try takin lever off gov an try by hand.....i did notice my hand lever hole in rod was loose(wore out)..an have a little free play..what kind of pin goes in handle an rod..a carter key , the head hits colum..was the original a roll pin...may need a new throttle rod.....thanks to all you guys.....dewy
