farmall 300 will only idle

ran out of gas bushhogging...will only idle ,the second i touch the gas it dies....open choke it dies....touch anything it dies...checked gas flow out the bottom of carb.its fillin can in a hurry..give it gas it just dies....what should i be lookin for here...i did hit a stump right before it ran out of gas...it jarred the tractor pretty good...do you think the gov. shaft could of come out of tang on carb.....thanks again for any input............dewy

sounds like you pulled a chunk of dirt into load jet, try opening it 1 round and see if it will pass thru if not return to previous setting so you don,t loose your proven sweet spot. be prepared to clean carb properly.

I agree with Leroy. Running out of gas allows small flakes to be dislodged into the carb body when the new fuel hits the open needle valve. Jim

Check your point gap too, that will cause that problem.
