Getting close to having the ol girl running.....on my Carb - I did put a kit in it awhile back- not much to it. One thing Im not
sure on is this; on the "middle screw" ; it turns in and out very freely- like nothing in there....should there be? Packing or
something? It should have some resistance to it so it doesn't vibrate. Also, does anyone know both screw settings? Thanks.

Under the outer, smaller nut of the two there should be packing.
In the kits it is a small felt sleeve, sometimes other material.
If the outer nut tightens all the way and you can't turn the screw,
it needs backed out a lil. If no resistance, sometimes i will put some
teflon packing string in there.

I have a W-30 engine that Ran quite well when shut down:

Could you tell me who the CARB KIT was purchased from?

Engine is not seized:

Thanks

You can get a kit from many places, the Fordson house, Steiners, etc.
We used to have to buy a kit for a U Allis because the IH kits were not available,
now they are.

ok thanks- I will look again...... on the belt pulley - I took off the three bolt cap - there is a "nut on a shaft" with a cotter key; then there is another cast piece....does that come off also for the seal?

yes there is packing in there, that is the main fuel jet adjustment. 2 1/2 to 3 turns off its seat. the upper mixture adjustment 3/4 to 1 turn out. the other screw to the left of it is the low idle screw, about 400 rpm.

great- thanks! Also can you tell me why - I have a new float, new needle and seat, adj right but still when I turn gas on to carb it starts leaking out the carb when it sits for a few minutes. They tell me that there is no adjustment to the float- but it looks like it is set right; the length of the needle should be right ...Im not sure whats going on. Thanks

well it only takes a spec of old tank sediment to get into the needle and seat. it will case just what you are saying. the sediment bowl catches the big stuff , then at carb inlet is a fine filter for the fines but the really fines go through that screen. so best is to totally start with a clean tank. the float adjustment is checked by turning upper half of carb upside down and look to see if the float is sitting level. if not bend arms with needle nose pliars to adjust.
that lower plug on carb with the 90 degree fitting is the bowl drain. so if its leaking out of there just put a reg. pipe plug in its place as those do leak. and you did not say where it was leaking, so im presuming.

Ok will check it all again before I put together today.... Im not sure where it was leaking just starts running out bottom or throat after sitting for a few minutes....Im assuming the bowl is running over but will also check closer....thanks.

Last week I also ordered a new "point cover" for my F-4 mag as the hole for the rod is wore on my old one- from Fordson house.....kinda strange deal - the new one is not built near as heavy or good as the old one. Seems like the "tabs" on the underneath side are not as deep and does not catch inside to turn the point assembly- I will call them on Monday.
