Hydraulics on 340

Still having issues with pulsating hydraulics on my International ?340?. As suggested from this sight, I replaced filter/screen, drained and changed oil (Trans/Hydraulic), removed regulator & safety valve from manifold, thoroughly cleaned it, and replaced oil rings. Still have pulsating hydraulics with throttle at mid to high speeds. Any suggestion to what I have missed? Can the pulsating hydraulics cause damage to pump.

yes it can wear thingsthat should work on demand but are working every few seconds. The pilot valve has an orifice through the center. If plugged (or the screen is plugged) it will pulse. If the pilot hole and viscosity of the fluid are wrong, (hole two small) it will pulse. The pilot hole can be enlarged to (IIRC) .040 from about .035. TO reduce the going to demand pulsation. Doubel check with Pete 23 or D Slater! Jim

Right on the orfice. Original was .031 and it may have a small roll pin holding a steel ball in slotted end of orfice. That ball bangs back and forth and closes that orfice. If it does have the ball, take out and throw it away along with the roll pin and try to open that orfice up to original or slightly larger. If it is orfice with hardened seat you may have a problem drilling it out. .040 is normally about as large as you need to go but each unit has it's own wear patterns. Tractors with teledepth valve usually require larger hole due to more leakage in that particular valve. Of course, it may not have a ball at all and merely a plugged screen. Cut screen off at bottom, clean it and then roll cut off end to close screen.

Park your tractor on a steep grade facing downhill. Take off the hydraulic fill cap. Run tractor and work hydraulics. Also turn steering wheel while doing this.Worked for me.
