H choke shaft frozen

Couple weeks ago drug a 42 H home for some reason, and as with all of the jewels I adopt it needs many things fixed. Turns out the choke shaft is frozen, rusted in carb. Tried penetrating oil and a little heat from a propane torch to no avail. Probably gonna end up soaking it in something, like diesel fuel????????? Never seen a choke shaft froze up.

I like PB Blaster. Nothing else. It seems to dissolve rust, lubricate, keep rust out. Keep moisture out. I'd be very gentle and patient, and soak it in PB for several days.

My favorite has become "KROIL". This might be an application for plain old Coke - the kind you drink! Some claim the acid in it slowly dissolves rust. I'm wondering if it might be the choke plate that's stuck, not the shaft.

Whatever you do, do not force it. Heat it with your propane torch and spray some PB Blaster into it. It will smoke at first, wait a few seconds and spray some more. Be patient. Eventually it will free up.

Mine was frozen as well in the open position. I was able to put vise grips on the shaft inside the throat near the bushings, heat the casting and lightly wiggle. Went back and forth for a while and finally wiggled it loose. Still ended up replacing the shaft since it was twisted but it came out in one piece. I used plenty of kroil.

Since you're going to 'rebuild',dismantle as best as you can. Soak in a can of carb cleaner for a few days.Be aware that all rubber/plastic will be dissolved. after it is washed off, spray with your favorite 'magic potion'. grab with vise grip and wiggle. easy at first. the wiggle will turn into full movement soon.

Heat and ATF or other such oil. Heat it up pour it on and then heat again AND repeat till it frees up. BTDT a good number of times over the years on carbs

I don't know fbh44, Zep SUPER PENETRANT has been known to frighten rusty nuts off studs/bolts just by setting a can with-in view of the culprit. My brother swears that he shot some on a rusty nut just before lunch one time and when he got back in an hour the nut was lying on the floor under the machine he was working on. It IS a tad costly tho,,,,,. gm

Acetone and ATF mixed half and half. Soak it good a couple of times, use a little heat if necessary. Got the one on an M carb loose. I've used that stuff a lot of times and it has yet to disappoint me.

Got er' freed up, ended up mainly using mostly PB Blaster, and heat, and visegrips on shaft just to get it started(very little room) but also about 7-8 other kinds of penetrant, and about 2 days time here and there(gonna keep my eyes open for some of that Zep super penetrant). Thank you everybody for your help and encouragement!
