3pt hitch plows on a 300U

Will a 3pt hitch plow work on a 300U with a 2pt hitch? I've got the adapters as I have a 3pt hitch brush hog. There is an auction coming up close to home with a 3pt hitch 2 bottom plow that might be nice for plowing my garden. I rarely see 2pt hitch plows around here.

It will work. But there may need to be some special minor 'consessions' to make it work "right".You wont know till you try it.But yes,it will work.

I do not know where your at but I have a 2 bottom disk plow made by Farmall and it right now is on a 300U that I have up for sale. It works real good but I have 2 many plows so I do not need this one

The fast hitch plow meant to be used on a 300U is a kind of a combination 2pt/3pt deal. A "normal" fast hitch plow won`t work very well on your 300 as there is no way to adjust the front to back depth as there is on other fast hitch tractors. Here is a pic of one that`s meant for use on 300U`s for sale on craigslist near me in NE WI. I have no connection to the seller !

Mark Peters has it right.I own a 300u and the plow, like he has pictured, and it is probably the only plow that would work. The angle of the plow points is adjusted by the top link.It has to be 26 1/2 inches pin center to center. There is no draft control on this tractor,so plow set up is critical.I have done a lot of plowing with mine, and IF it is adjusted correctly,it will plow as good as anything. We tried a set of fast hitch plows that came with our 340u that only had the 2 prongs, and it would not penetrate the ground.Other models of tractors have a different style of fast hitch, and certain plows go with certain tractors.
If you do try a 3point plow, use the top link mount on the rotating rockshaft, not the fixed one that is directly bolted to the rear housing above the PTO.Adjust the top link length so the lift cylinder is almost lifting the arms.MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT HAVE THE DOWN PRESSURE PIN IN PLACE.Mark

That is what is so nice about the disk type plow and the fast hitch no adjustment needed for them to work well

I have never seen a pair in this part of the country.I would like to see them in use to see how they work.Mark

I have a 2 bottom disk plow on a 300U here in Missouri. The times I have used it, it worked real good and the other nice thing about a disk plow is they tend to slide right under rocks and kick them up to the surface. Been trying to sell this one for years since I have no need for it

Seem to look pretty much the same as a mold board type plow but the disk plow sure seem to work a whole lot better in heavy clay and rocky ground

If it's IHC plow with adjustable [deep suck setting] on the moleboards, with new plow shares, it will go in the ground.I got a 3 x 16 2 point 312 plow, and we just had our local plow day, the field hadn't been plowed in 12 years, lot of guys were only plowing 2 inches deep, with wore out lays naturally, but i plowed 8 inches deep all day.

My experience with a disk plow, is it leaves it a bit lumpier than a moleboard plow, and the lumpier it is the faster it will dry out.
