I'll start a new post on this- my old one is pages back. Does anyone know if these tractors had a factory temp gauge? Mine does not. Also - Rice Equip. say they have the "Elbow" that goes on the pipe when it comes out of the hood(the exhaust)...some of the pictures show a straight pipe coming up- which is correct? Thanks.

I will have to take a look at mine and see where temp gauge is located. I have a straight pipe with muffler on mine but the curved pipe in photo is the correct set up.

Ok....thought it might be.....I see you have a Farmall restored in the pic...and Chevy Pickup? Thanks.

As shown in some of the pictures, the W30 would have come from the factory with the straight pipe and elbow. But I believe somewhere along the line IH also made an optional muffler that could be used on the W30, F20, F30 etc. I prefer the muffler myself. Still have an original muffler and use it on my W30 and F20. I don't like the loud engine noise with no muffler.

As far as the temp gauge, I don't believe the W30 came with one from the factory. At least mine doesn't have one. But my dad's 39 F20 does have one and it came with it from the factory as I had to replace it. Al

Ok....I did not a temp gauge on this tractor I purchased- so will leave it this way. As for the exhaust- I can do it either way- since I wont be going to the "field" with this tractor- maybe a parade or two.....around the farm some...I may go with the "elbow"...what do you think ?

If it was mine, I would go with the elbow.

Temp guage goes in the rear tank support on some, otherwise i have seen them in the front fender shields and elsewhere.
Young in years, i liked the elbow, old in years, i'm considering the muffler.

This ENGINE was removed from a W-30,then POWERED a SAWMILL for many years:

I found it interesting that the Crankshaft has BALL BEARINGS not SHELLS:

Mainly 2" X 4"s & 2" X 6"s
