So for personal knowledge and community knowledge I am
inquiring about the super 70 and experimental Articulated
Magnum. I read in the big red 4 wheel drive book about the 70
series being carried on after the merger into the magnum with
articulation (receiving great reviews in field testing). Evidently
the front wheel assist on the magnum would turn and at its
maximum then the articulation joint would engage for even
tighter turning. It was said that funding for the project was re-
directed towards creating the larger series magnums and this
is why the 2+2 Magnum was abandoned. There is a photo
floating around from about 2011 of one of the experimentals at
a CaseIH Testing sight that shows it intact and decent shape.
Does anyone know if it still exists or was it eventually cut up
and melted down? Also, to add to that what do you all think
they were planning to identify that model as? The 2+2 line
was gone by then so maybe a 7120 Magnum HD or 7120 Mag
Duece or Magnum II or something? And finally why did
CaseIH never return to the front articulation sector? I would
think that FWA and articulation idea would excel with the new
Case IH tractors or even employ the whole 70 series full 4x4
power design even throw on the rubber tracks and have a
second line of quadratracks.
Anyways that is my bit for now. Feel free to chip in. Thanks!
