560 diesel injector pump

1958. Has a roosa-master pump IIRC. Tractor runs fine but there is a fuel leak, drip drip drip from the pump. Can these pumps be resealed? A seal kit is about $30. Is this a job that can be tackled or better just to get the pump rebuilt? A rebuilt pump is about $900, is it worth a try to reseal it?

The 560 uses a load advance type pump that is best adjusted on the test bench. Just repaired one awhile back that had several leaks, and needed a new brass pilot tube too. Most I see in are three to four hundred for complete tear down, cleaning, repaired, tested, and returned..

Thanks for the info -Diesel tech. I’d be glad to send it to you if I had access to the tractor. It’s 1600 miles from me right now in Montana. I live in Missouri and my Dad passed away last January, leaving us kids the farm and equipment. I’ll be back out there next spring to plant and after that is done I could pull the pump for repairs. If you are interested in the work, send me your contact information and I’ll keep it until then. My email is [email protected].

Dont sweat this one Matt. Most any honest pump shop should be able to get her done with warranty for 350-450 bucks. Anyone who charges more is hosing you, while anyone much cheaper is skipping something important. Most times they skip quality. dont be scared to pay a little now to get a good job done with piece of mind it will still be running correctly later.. Shop around and make a few calls. take some time and find the shop that you feel is the right fit for you, and in your budget,, Al

Thanks Al, that's good information. Looking around on the net, I see reman pumps for around $1000 and new for up to $1600. It's good to know it shouldn't cost me that much to have it fixed right.
