544 c200 throttle up stumble

544 c200 got it and had a bad valve, swapped with another head I had.
cleaned the carb. New distributer cap, wires, plugs gapped, starts
easy, runs, but if you throttle up fast the governor throws the flap
at the top of the carb and almost dies. If I ease into it it does
better. Also, when on number one the distributer points to 4 oclock.
Is this correct?

Carb is set a bit lean plus you have to remember these carbs do not have an accelerator pump in them so if you open up the throttle fast it does not give it a lot of gas to help accelerate like it does on a car engine. As for where the #1 plug wire is that too does not matter since a distributor can be dropped in in such a way any of the nipple can be made to be #1
