Small update.

I had asked a few questions about a 3616 hoe with a D236 in it. A 9 and 10 tooth starter will interchange on that machine. And with a few good glowplugs I managed to get the rig started. Has a bad head gasket. Leaking compresson out the side on 2. But it runs enought to test it out

The complete starter will interchange but not the two different drives on each individual starter. Wasn't sure of this but that is the way it works on the 706 gas tractors. That is where the mix up occur as the nose cone is different for each starter to accept the different drives. Ran into that a few times and it really gets confusing when someone buys a complete rebuilt starter and it has been equipped with the wrong drive. One way it will work but not smoothly, not sure the other way.
