tips for removing worn steering spindle bushings

I'm rebuilding the steering on my old 806. I have new spindles, and I've ordered new thrust bearings and bushings.

Now I need to get the old worn bushings out. I do have a lot of tools including a shop press and a metal lathe in case I need to fabricate something.

Would it be a bad idea to take a chisel and basically cut out the old bushings? Or maybe careful application of a sawzall to slice through the bushing so it can be peeled out? I don't see a good way to press this out. They are worn quite thin at this point from years of neglect.

Just an old screwdriver or similar tool and collapse the bushing. Easiest if you can find the seam in bushing. Pretty simple really.

Drive a small chisel or a pointed punch between. The bushing will collapse to the inside, allowing for removal.

I did as described by others on our 1466 last spring. I have also used a long bar with a clean end and sharp corner to drive them out from either end of the tube. I found aftermarket kits cheaper than piece mealing the parts.
