I made a deal to buy a 606 diesel today, supposed to have a bad rear end. Is it worth fixing or should I part it out. What will those engines fit?

That has the D-236 glow plug diesel. If it runs REALLY well and some one needs the engine I'd part it. The D-282 was a much better starting engine than the 236 was. Best way to help it is to put in the 282 crank and pistons, and put in valve seats to get all the valves flush with the head. Then it will start like it should.

I hope it starts better than that 384 I used to have that only started in 90 degree weather. Anyway it is supposed to be a good engine.

Did you put the Bosch glow plugs in the 384? I put them in my 364 and it is like a completely different tractor to start. Will start right up down to below freezing without any ether.

No. I used it a year or so for some summer work, and I will say after you got it started the 384 was a good tractor, but it was not one I wanted to keep.
