Farmall B Block Serial Number

Hoping someone can tell me what is up with the serial number on a donor block I have for a Farmall B that my students are working on. It has a serial number of M209685G and then there is a second line under it is stamped FAB. Is this a factory replacement block or did it come from a different machine? Mainly just curious as we try to get the full story on the tractors we restore.

Thanks

Sounds like from a "B" to me. "FAB" would be the prefix for the serial number of a "B", "FAA" the prefix for an "A".

ShoP Teacher, what the date code on the black, you'r going to have to go to a IHC dealer or look it up on the IHC parts web site, Mine has a 7-2-X 123 engine, and is a 356318R1 stationary engine. after 70 plus years who know's what we really have!

Its a Louisville tractor as their #s started with 200,000 Chicago tractors 182,964 in 1947. Not uncommon for Louisville tractors to have the "M" at the start of serial#
