IH584 brakes

So on this burnt 584 to stop a hyd leak that was coming from the hyd cooler line that should go the brake fluid tank I hooked the line to one of the 2 brake master cylinders. Last time I ran it the one brake I hooked it to seem to have started working at least a little bit. Any chance if I added a T fitting so I could hook it up to both that I would have brakes even with of the fluid tank??

Hi Old, re brakes without reservoir and cooler return lines with a "T":
Check on top of transmission cover for an overflow/return fitting from the previous reservoir? This return oil may be used as lube for the transmission.
The original cooler return lines had a restrictor in each line where they connected to the master cylinder. The restrictor was to prevent too much oil pressure on the master cylinders to prevent the brakes from dragging when the brakes were released.

Only line I have found on top of the transmission seems to have a short hose that goes right back into the transmission. I may have had a T fitting some place but if it was plastic it is gone. I found that right after I first got it running and took the cover off the top of the transmission and stopped that leak

Old, if you can find or frabricate new restrictors then your plan of using a line with a "T" should work. Make sure the brakes don't drag when released. Without the reservoir don't use or pump the brakes without engine running.

Only time I ever try to use the brakes are when I am driving it so it is running. As for restrictors I wonder if I could maybe use a short piece to 3/8 rod and drill a small hole in it and put that into the rubber lines to act as a restrictor

Hi Old, I reviewed the caseih.com parts, see attach photo item #15 ORIFICE ASSY, brake reservoir Product No: 537849R2
should still be there as item #14 should not have melted.

Your "T" hydraulic line should work.

Both the master cylinder other then the rubber line going to them did not seem to get all that hot so from what your saying all I need is the T and some simple hose and clamps. Been trying to figure out a way to rig a tank of some sort and may try a piece of pipe say 2 or 3 inches and then a reducer down to 3/8 so that way I would have a small fluid tank be it not as big as what came factory but at least maybe enough to work with out the engine running

On this 584 there is a short piece of pipe that has 4 nipples on it that I used as the T. I capped off one to the 4 and even with out bleeding the brakes I have brakes on both sides now. But I sure wish I knew where the 4th line should have gone but of course since it is all burnt off I have no idea of where it should be going to
