Governor Control Rod Spring

In the process of rebuilding the engine on my Super C, I lost one of the equalizer springs(the short one) that fits over the governor control rod. It's listed as #8 on page 95 of the TC44B parts catalog. I don't see anything available on-line. Does anyone have a suggestion for a comparable replacement (tension/length etc.)? BillB

GOOGLE the #, 51300D, and you will find some on-line. They are still available through CIH for some $11, Messicks shows 4 in stock.

As I recall, the front spring would be a little shorter, and wound with a bit heavier wire than the back. With that info, it shouldn't be tough to come up with something at a hardware store, probably not TOO critical.

On the other hand, If I was putting it back together, I'd go with a new, correct one for a whole $11.

Thanks for the information Bob. I didn't think about Messicks because it didn't come up in my search. Hard to believe that they are still available. BillB
