The old M Farmall needs towing 80 miles. Kansas City to Knoxville, MO I am getting quotes from $460 - $600. Ughh. Sound about right?

$6-8 per loaded mile sounds a bit steep...but that's just me.

Is there some condition like it not running (etc) which is making the trip harder than normal?

towing??? dont you mean hauling? its about a 5 hr. drive with that tractor plus gas. to haul it should not be more than couple hundred bucks, maybe 250.00 those quotes are nuts.

From kanas city to Knoxville would probably take 10-12 hours so there might b a hotel room expense. They say there has been many changes on hauling equipment across state lines. Not to bad if you haul it yourself. I would say 460 would be a good price. I would imagine pulling it yourself you would use at least 2 tanks of gas and probably closer to 3. So 100 bucks for gas. 100 bucks for a motel room. is it worth 260 not to worry about getting stopped for some trumped up charge on your trailer or that your over weight or an accident of some kind. Just make sure if you do use some one they are a good outfit that does specialize in hauling tractors.

I would have it hauled, towing these tractors more than a few miles at low speed isn't the best for the rear. I'm sure the need to go slow is why they want so much, put it on a trailer and be done with it

MichaelR, did you get any responses from your hauling request? Just wondering how and if it works. Any prices from the YT request?

Maybe these haulers giving quotes are making the same mistake you are?

There is no "across state lines." Kansas City, MO to Knoxville, MO. It's only 80 miles.

Yes, Kansas City, MO to Knoxville, TENNESSEE is 12 hours, and also 10 times as far. For that trip even $600 would be cheap, <$1 per loaded mile. But, that's NOT where he's going.
