3588 exhaust tube to muffler rings

I have a 3588 2+2 with a horrible exhaust leak. After looking at it, I have found the leak. There is a tube about 16" long that goes between the turbo and the muffler. This tube is very loose, I can wiggle it up and down and side to side. When I took the muffler off as I will be replacing it with a muffler eliminator, I noticed that there is a sealing ring (looks like a piston ring) on each end of this tube. I ordered a set of new rings like these. I am wondering what the 2nd ring (the one that looks like a stop sign) is for. Can anyone help me out so that I get it all installed correctly?

Thanks

NOT familiar with that setup, but it sounds like you are describing an "expander" that goes in the groove before the actual sealing ring.

Are the old ones lim- and tucked down at the bottom of the grooves?

Yes, on one side the old ring is still in the groove but stuck down it the groove. I still need to work on getting that one out. The other side, the old ring is out already.
