looking at '79 IH 84 Hydro

Hi all;
I'm searching for a tractor to replace the ones I lost. I see an ad for an 84 Hydro with an International front bucket. I haven't looked at it yet, as it is about 300 non-freeway miles away.
I've read a few reviews on the net (where everything is absolutely true!) I will use it for snwoblowing and small garden plowing, odd jobs, things attached to the 540 PTO, etc. Mostly light stuff.
I also have to be able to drive it under a deck that is about 7' high. It looks like it is a shorter tractor, more like my old Farmall 540 instead of the old 704.

Does anybody have any comments about its reliability over a geared tractor for these purposes? Things to look for, etc.? I promise to try to not burn it up....

Check the hydro. Get it warm and with the tractor engine at pto speed try stalling the transmission with the brakes. If the engine pulls down and almost quits the hydro is good. You will love a hydro. ( I have 5) Just remember if you ever have to move it with the engine off make sure the high low range shifter is in neutral.

Thanks for the information; it'll be useful because I've never had a hydro--I'd never even heard of such a thing.
However, it sounds like exactly what I need for snow blowing in reverse. The old tractor wasn't able to drive slowly enough to let the snow get blown out fast enough.
