I have an 856 that the hand operated parking lock is always falling into the lock position. I have to tie it up in order to operate the tractor. I know there is a 1/2 turn buckle at the top end of the parking lock arm and another adjustment under the floor panels. Do I need to adjust 1 or both of these? in order for the parking lock to stay in the up position? Based on diagrams from the Case-IH website there are no parts missing. Thanks for your help.

There is a spring on that linkage down below it's a long one and it's really stiff just that linkage until it just goes over center but that Springs got to be on there do not adjust about the platform do all your adjustment down below under the platform make sure your keys are in your into your arms on that leakage

Like Timmy said missing the over center spring . Now what i use to do with ALL the tractors that i got in was to do away with the OLD over center park loc. and install the SPRING LOADED one for safety reasons . The old style if not adjusted properly would kick out way to easy on hills while tryen to hold a load along with the tractor . Or even just the tractor . Also having the park loc just drop is not a good thing or even kick out as not only can the tractor go for a ride by it self it will take out Rev. driven gear and that gear is a pain to change out since it is the last gear you remove and the first to go back in . I am not sure of the cost of the KIT to make the change but it is a lot cheaper then and injury or someone getting killed from a runaway .

Picture above shows park lock operating parts found below the deck plate. Do you have the spring ? It is number 208351R1 from Case/IH dealer.
