H carb question

On my H i was cleaning carb and took out a short brass rod treaded on one end and hollow the top end is hollow with notches for a straight screwdriver. It is only about an inch long maybe a little more. It is blocked off near slotted end while threaded end is hollow most the way through. Is it suppose to be like this or it there a blockage and what is its purpose.

That's the idle jet with a small hole below the screw driver slots. Hole is around the .020 to .025 size.

Thanks i thought so but a drill bit turned by hand was not cutting in so i stopped to ask before going any further. I could not thinkof a reason why it would not be a through hole but as I have gotten older I have learned to stop and chech or ask instead o oin job twice.

Like Slater said, very very small hole. Don't try to run anything through it unless you are certain of your sizes . .020 is not much bigger than a hair from a horses tail. I have the numbered wire gauge drill bits for carburetor jets etc. Some use welding torch tip cleaners which is fine if you measure the cleaner with a micrometer.
