H rear axle seal felt install

When replacing the outer axle seal and felt, should the felt be installed dry, or does it need to be oiled or greased or anything?

I don't know what others do, but I always squirt some oil on it after I get the felt seal and regular seal installed into the flange prior to sliding it on the axle. I also always oil the axle so the seal slides on easier.
